I believe public education is the most consequential lever for equity in our democracy — and that scholarship, practice, and partnership must move together to pull it.
Dr. Marquis Mason is an accomplished educational leader with more than 15 years of experience driving systemic change in K–12 schools and districts nationwide. His expertise in equity-focused instructional practices, coaching, and data-informed school improvement has consistently enhanced teaching effectiveness and improved student outcomes, particularly for historically marginalized communities.
He currently serves as a Research Education Analyst and Education Consultant with RTI International, where he leads strategic consulting, professional learning, and equity-focused research across federal and district partners. Earlier roles include Instructional Coach with the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program and the North Carolina New Schools Project, STEM Instructor at Central Piedmont Community College, and classroom teacher and instructional leader in K–12 public schools.
From national policy convenings to K–12 professional learning, the work spans rooms where decisions get made and rooms where teaching happens.
